Default intake spacer for a 90

I have an artic cat 90 and replaced the stock carb (16mm) with a 20mm. The float bowl now hits on the cyl shroud used for cooling. I was curious if I machined a spacer for the intake would it go between the reeds and cyl or between the reeds and intake boot?

I thought on my 250r that the spacer goes between the reed cage and the cyl. Is this correct? Also what would the maximum thickness I should go? I read some other posts sayin 3/4 inch was way to much.

Please help so I can get my daughter back on the trails.
Thanks
