VF3 Lifespan?

Look at the pictures and tell me if this is right. While cleaning my parts I noticed sunlight thru the pedals.
Sunlight only shines thru one side, in this case the top side, but the bottoms seemed fine.
Is this common or do I have problem? How long are the pedals to last?

My VF3's don't have many hours on them, I've had them less than a year. Thanks.

that's common. if ya looked when they were brand new there's some light coming through. just the way the carbon reeds are. average lifespan for a trail ridden bike/ quad is 3-5 years. race engines and high reving engines are 2-3 years but recomended every season. when they start flaking it's time to replace. or when the tips start to fray or crack

i have some that are about a little over a year hte the tips are looking a little ragged... what would be a good replacement pedal?

if you got vforce 3's but the carbon fiber replacement pedals... i have a set of vf2's and they show little speckles of light through also and was wondering the same thing!! good to know carbon fibers do that
