How do i tell if my reeds are worn?

if they are not sealing,they are shot.look through the cage,the way the air and fuel would flow.if you can see light coming through around the sealing area they are worn out.you can flip them over and get a little more ride time out of them.but they will not last much longer.i would just replace them unless funds ar real low and you need to ride asap.

yeah its not a hurry the corner of one was barely chipped off and one didnt look like it was sealing good. the reason i took it apart is it was real hard to start would they have caused that?

Also, if they are carbon fiber reeds, take them off of the reed cage and hold them up to a light. If you see pin holes of light shining thru them , they are also worn out.

i would not run reed petals that are chipped cracked or damaged at all.they will throw the mix ratio-(air/fuel) way off and can lead to engine failure.

If that...if you shop around you could prob. find them cheaper.. Not carbon fiber of course.

i just bought a set of boysen power reeds off ebay brand new for 15 bucks

Thought a bit of light thru carbon fiber pedals was normal? Questioned this before and told it was normal.
