I just installed vf3's in my 300r a couple days ago and I'm running the stuffer.

On my V-3's the stuffer is what locks the reeds in the cage.

use the stuffer manifold ,it will have a rad valve effect

Without the stuffers, you will loose major mid and top-end power. It will not let enough vac signal to go through the carb and will not open the reeds all the way and make it seem extremely fat and not run consistently. I have used and made reedcage spacers. They go on the other side of the cage(one side touching the engine, the other against the reedcage) to pull them out of the motor more. They really help on a stock cage, but do no good for the v-forces.
