I'm not sure if there is a mod you can do to your reeds or cage, but reeds are pretty cheap.

it's done along the same lines as porting a cylinder, it's realy smart to go to a shop and look at one that's been ported out before trying it yourself but it's also alot cheeper than an aftermarket cage since all it takes is a dremel and some sanding drums and some skill so you dont f-it-up. aftermarket cages like the moto tasani v-forces are cool but for just a little time and effort i'd try porting your cage if you have the patience to do it right...

and people say the same thing about heads. im sure chris will agree with me here a milled stock head performes just as well ifnot better than a billet head. and they give you the typical everyday bike look if you want you can have them reshaped and everything.

Just because you can "port" out the cage doesn't mean the reed petals and the flow will be as good as aftermarket cages.

that's not the point. of course they wont flow as good as aftermarket, but there a hell of alot better than stock and they cost nothing if you know what your doing. and here's something to chew on... say your out in the middle of nowhere (let's say st. anthonies idaho since i recently made the trek there...) you snap one of your high dollar carbon fiber reed's... you goto the local bike shop (rexburg motorsports) and they say " we dont stock those, we can order you a new pair. they should be in sometime next week, or we can sell you a new set of cages for 300 bones.." now say you have a set of ported out stock cages, then the story goes like this... you walk over to the pit stop that's located in the middle of the egin lakes campground, tell em you have a cracked reed and they hook you up with a new set of boysen reed's... although there not cheep cause your out in the middle of nowhere but you have them and you didnt even have to get in your rig to go chasing after them all over hell....like i said, aftermarket cages are good for preformance but as far as price and part's availability nothing beat's modded stock cages. and there not that big of a power difference... if you have access to a dyno go down and run your bike with a set of stock cages then swap out to a set of v-force...you wont notice enough gain to warrent the cash spent. you'd be better off to take the $240 or whatever there goin for in your area and put it twords a milled head or some portwork...for the most part v-force cages are for the guy who already dropped the cash on a port job, head, crank, polish work, arm's, swingarm, blah blah blah... and has nothing better to spend his cash on and just want's something else to point at and say " yea, check the new reed cages...there v-force, cost me 3 hun but there bad ass..."
