New guy, new to riding!!!

Well Ive been lurking a few weeks if not longer, my name is Dustin, and Im from St Louis, MO. Im an auto tech for my families repair shop. Always have been interested in automotive type things but have never had a two wheeled or off road vehicle. Always wanted a bike though. My two roomates and I decided all to get mx bikes about a month ago and start riding. The two roomates got an 01 Kx250 and a 02 yz426.

I picked up a 99 yz250 that is pretty clean, runs strong, slightly modded with some riding gear for $1650. The bike has a fmf fatty gold series pipe, fmf silencer, boyesen power reeds, answer protaper bars, factory connection front forks, decal kit, bike lift/stand, steering stabilizer(uninstalled), and some misc things/supplies. Came with almost all my gear except boots, gloves, and helmet. Ive been wearing a street bike helmet, bought some gloves, and wearing my steel toe work boots.

I dont have alot of exp. so ive been trying to take it pretty easy for the most part. Im 6ft 215lbs, 24 years old, and it definitely intimidates me a lil. Ive rode it three times for a total of about 7-8 hrs and it already bit me last night. Ended up with a big sprain in my left foot/ankle from dragging it behind me a bit in a trail and the toe of my boot hooked something. Ill be back on in a few, when my foot heals up. Overall I'm excited about riding. I feel like a kid with a new toy, I want to go riding all the time. I am having a problem fouling plugs though, so Im gonna post up a seperate thread in the yamaha tech section.

Thanks, for being a 99 it looks pretty decent. It looks better than my roomates 01 and 02 and its for sure faster than the 01 kx250. Havent got a chance to line up next to the 02 yz426 4 poke yet though.

welcome to e2s nice yz !!! real clean i did the same thing on my cr 250 i had boots on and the toe caught a tree root in a corner it hurt pretty bad but i was back on the bike in like three days still was kinda sore though have fun be safe !!

Very nice bike, I almost got a YZ250 instead of a banshee cuz I rode a KX250 and loved it besides the fact it didnt have a steering stabilizer which almost made me flip in 4th gear :P

Oh im no sissy to pain. Its just important that I am able to work come Tuesday. Unfortunately its a pain in the ass when own a small business. No work=no money/toys
