Default 250r jetting 38mm back to stock

I have an 89. It has Paul Turner Maximum Overdrive jug with PT race pipe. I had a 38 mm Airstryker on it. I have been running a 205 main jet and it ran out strong.

I am doing a lot of hill climbing and it seems to come on the pipe to slow.

I put the factory carb back on it threw the pilot jet (55) out of the 38mm in it and a 205 main jet . It runs strong down low and comes on quick, but cuts out way early on top. I tried a 180 main with simmilar results possibly worse.

Can anyone tell me where I should be at jet wise. I figure someone has a way to convert jet sizes from big to little or vise versa. Or some good ole done it before.

I mix 32:1

whats ur altitude?? i run at 165 main jet at sea level. i run 40:1. if your at sea level with a 205 main ur probley really rich. i went to a riding area where the elevation was 4000 feet and i had no top end. especally with 32:1 u could drop down some jet sizeds on the main
