Default 250R jetting

I have an 86 honda 250R it has a soduka pipe and a twin air filter with the air box lid removed i have a 160 main and a 52 pilot jet in it right now im having trouble with it wanting to rev real high with it in neutral i cant seem to bring it down with the idle adjustment i turned out the air screw about 4 turns and it now idles normal but i dont believe that you are supposed to use that as an idle adjustment. This is my first R and i am just getting the hang of this any help would be appreciated thaks.

I am dealing with the same issue with my lt 250r. I would start by checking your carb/intake boot for dry rot and cracking, gaskets ect. The engine is running lean and thats why its racing, lean conditions in two stroke engines is not a good thing, they blow up.

It was the black plastic screw so that would be the air/fuel knob. It is also a stock carb.

you need to go smaller on the pilot jet.... but first mess with the air screw.... little brass thingy.... turn it out a half a turn to a turn.... then see how it runs... if nothing changes go down on the pilot
