| pastrana has a cr500 shifter kart, that thing is so fast lol lol some one should put a cheatah cub, or saber in one how much do those 125 karts wiegh? |
| ||||||||||||
| My notebook is in the trailer, With me in the kart (150lbs) and some added lead, we both weigh about 392lbs. 385 is minimum for the class. Static weight I would guess is around 200lbs, with engine, water, ect. As i said I add some lead to the kart to make weight. |

| Awesome to see Karts on the site I recall the Isle of man video from awhile ago very fast, also seems to be fast forwarded with just how fast they went.

| ok so if it weighs roughly the same as a 125 bike, why is it so much faster? |
| ||||||||||||
| Because a kart has four large contact patches to the ground, where as a bike has two small (about 3/4'' for a RS125) contact patches. Karts can carry unbelievable corner speed, where a bike has to slow way down. I use to road race bikes and it is a big difference especially brake marks. |

| well im jsut tlaking about in a straight line, you said that they are getting over 100mph, and no 125 out there is going 100mph, and i dont think that karts are really geared so high that gearing is the only difference |
| ||||||||||||
| It is the gearing. Look at the size of a rear gear on a dirt bike. What is it 6-8'' Diameter. Gear on a kart is a 1/4 of that. Look at a RS125 GP bike. They go well over 100mph friend ![]() |

| even tho it wouldnt technically be a "shifter cart" do people ever put sled engines in karts, a 200hp 1000cc sled egnine in a litte kart would be insane |
