Default 1988 Kawasaki KX125 Tranny Issues

Hi, I have found another possible project bike but I am not sure what to expect. The guy says it would shift but the engine runs great. I thought right away that this means I would have to split the case. Some has told me it could be as simple as linkage. I don't get that but I was thinking that it could just be the shift cam which is located under the clutch basket on some bikes. Does anybody know if that is where the shift cam is on this bike or if that sounds like something that would cause the bike not to shift? Also what other things could it be? Is it hard to split the case and figure out what the problem is? I just don't know what I am getting myself into. It could be a shift fork and some of the parts have been discpntinued. Someone please give me some help. Also the bike is only $450 and has a newer FMF pipe that cost $150. I will only buy if I can get the price down but I need to know how to fix it.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi, I am probably way to big for a KX85 and I don't have that kind of money for a bike right now. I need a full size machine.

Thanks,
Chris
