That would be fun to ride but it's a broken back waiting to happen. The swingarm would need another 4-6 inches and some wight to the front end to keep it from flipping when the clutch is dumped. I'll stick with the LT500.

87 or 97 was in reference to the KX motor.

What's up guys. New to the site. Lots of interesting stuff.
Well I broke down and bought this Tecate with the 500 motor on ebay that you guys have been talking about.
The guy I bought it from actually bought it from the original owner that built it. The guy who built it did a nice job and did it correctly. The motor has been balanced by Fallicon, so it really doesn't vibrate all that bad. Nothing like a CR500 that we had in a 250R a while ago. That thing would make you piss blood!LOL, This thing rips. It needs the jetting dialed in though. It seems the guy was trying to get the powerband "to come on like a Banshee" (his words). We currently have it in the shop tuning it and setting it up for TT and flat track racing. It should be fun smoking people asses with a quad that some people have never even heard of. The only downfall so far is the difficulty finding Tecate parts.

COOL! This site really seems to be starting to build a tecate fanbase. I bet she does rip. Several of us here can find or know where to find tecate parts. Welcome to the site. LONG LIVE MEAN GREEN

Thanks. I'm interested in seeing how this thing handles on the track once it's set up. I've heard for years that Tecates don't handle worth a crap. I guess we'll see?

The quad was actually cherry when I got it, but in a little "friendly" race with my 'Zilla, my buddy wrecked the Tecate. I've found the front spindle and brake parts, but I really need a set of rear plastics (green). Any thoughts?
