The top end and bottom end have similar failure rates so if your going to split it open you should do it right. I believe many years of the KX250 motorcycle had the same rod and bearings. If there is any verticle movement of the rod it needs new bearings. Have the crank rebuild by some reputable.

I would go back to a 12 or 13 tooth front sprocket and maybe smaller in the rear.

As far as tires I got blemished Fast Trekkers which are in my opinion the same as Kenda Klaws but much cheaper. I got a set delivered for $58 off ebay.
Carlilse Turf Tamers are still the best though and they're cheaper too.

Good luck restoring the T3. I am bringing an 84 KXT back to life right now. Check out some of my posts.

Are you a memember of 3wheelerworld yet? If not, you should be.

Thanks for the info nd4, yeah I've been posting on 3wheelerworld for maybe 2 months now, same user ID as here.

Have you ever been to Trikefest? Sounds like a hoot and I'd like to learn more about these old Tecates and get ideas for mine.

I was at trike fest last year, its a great time... I'm not sure if an 85 is power valved or not (prabably not) but you may want to check into it, They could be stuck.
