tecate 4 engine questions, comments

i pulled apart my t4 bottom end. you have to split the cases to change out the main seals! this is the first time that i've seen this. is it just the t4 or are all kawasaki's like this? i don't think me 84 kdx200 was, but its been awhile. its a real bad design if you ask me.

the water pmup. does anyone sell a rebuild kit for it, or do you have to buy all the parts individualy?

reed cage and boot. what will work other than the t4's?

the head. is there 3 small studs in the front or just bolts? i have a head and cylinder that has no studs in the front for the head.

for splitting the cases, i know the tecate 3 is the same way....and for reed boots you can use certain year kx250 boots, if yours is the curved boot i think i might have one.

you can use Certain year kx500 boots. The 3 front ones are studs. KX 250 boots will work to, again just certain years. The reed cage is the same. some 500's and 250's. I bought a 250 V force 3 reed set up and is a great improvement.

Intake boots fit but don't know about alignment with air box-
85-96 KX250
87-04 KX500
all years KDX250

All angle to left I believe.

I put 96 KX250 RAD valve on my 86 T3 does not align with airbox boot is all I know.

Reed cages- same as above.

Bolts not studs.

Diagrams show bolts but either would work.

I seem to remember my T3 having studs though.

you mean thew little 6mm bolts? If so mine uses bolts too but I have a billet head. Carefull what kx500 intake you run, I paid $80.00 for one and its straight, I can't use it.

its straight? is it the same size as a 84-85 tecate boot?

i just wasn't sure about the head. i got a bunch of parts and there was no studs, just bolts. so bolts it is then!

i don't have the intake boot or cage. well i do have a boot, i'm just not sure what its from and the engine will be out of the frame for awhile, so i can't try it. might just be easier to find a t4 boot.
