Oily shifter 92 kx 250

Just got this 92 kx 250 for 650 on craigslist. compression is low and its leaking oil from the shifter. Im wondering if anyone has tackled this job before? I found parts from a uk site, the manual is on order. Im just wondering if Im getting in over my head. Im good with mechanics in general but never cracked a case, nor am I entirely sure I need to...

You'll notice a bolt below the sprocket in the second pic I'm not sure its even supposed to be there....a bit scared to take it out.... I am afraid to see what its covering.... Got a new swing arm from ebay with chain tensioners that actually move. The top end kit is on the way. I also ordered a complete gasket set and Im hoping it includes a new shifter seal (not likely i know but a guy can hope). Any input of things to look out for would be appreciated.

got it fixed..... Was just a bad seal cost 11 dollars and didnt have to crack the case

just pull it out with a screwdriver, put a little lithium grease on and press the new one in with a deep dish socket :P
