there is a knack to starting them. Once you get ift figured out 1st kick every time. Took me forever to start it when i fisrt got it

87 was a 1 ring piston, later pistons had more rings. But they still work in the 87. Yes 87 was an odd year. A lot of changes between 86 - 87 and 87-88. But don't let that steer you away from the bike. I am still unsure how much is different on the internals of the motor and such.

87 was also the last year for the kickstand equiped bikes(so I have been told), if that bike has a kickstand, you have gold there.
