| 600 FOR IT IS AN AWESOME DEAL (in my opinion) lets see the 84 was an air cooled, the 87 is def liquid cooled, there is probably some minor difference, otherwise the powerplant is basically the same, those bikes are really fast, they say they put out like 60-70hp stock, but 600 for it is kickass, even if the rings arent so good, what kind of condition it in? I would say jump on that deal, definitely.

| From what you say it sounds like it's a good running bike and a steal a $600. If your buddy the owner can't kick it but you can because you lift weights don't mean it needs rings bro. Buy it and ride it and when it stops running then put new rings in it. It just means you have a strong enough leg to kick that big ass bike over the first time. |

| you get used to kicking them ,,,,,, you dont always get used to fliping over backwards at 80 mph |

| The 1989-2004 kx500 motors are the same. The 87 and 88 may be the same but I can't say for sure. I would think it should be fairly hard to kick and the compression is probably low for some reason. May need rings or may need the cylinder bored and re-nikasild. Anyway if you don't buy it, I'd be interested in it. |
