KX500 general motor ?

Went to look at a 96 KX500 motor for sale. It was on a work bench and I was cranking the motor over and looking down the hole for the oil filler plug to see the clutch rotating. The thing is I did not see anything moving. Does anyone know if it is hard to see the clutch basket through the oil fill hole in the clutch cover? The motor was in good shape and appeared never to have been disassembled.

If the kickstarter cranks the engine over... the clutch must be rotating..

good point. I liked the motor and I know the KX250s clutch are hard to see. Thanks.

It was just weird I was looking down the hole and nothing was moving. The counter shaft moved through all the gears though.

From looking at diagrams the clutch cover has a tab to stop oil from splashing on the plug and leaking. That is what was in my line of sight.

Should have looked through the oil sight glass better.

I hope I can get this motor.

It has carb and all electrical. Pipe, rear shock included. How much should I pay?

What year engines? $385 sounds like a good deal... I see KX500 and CR500 engines selling for $600-$1000 all the time on ebay... I would offer him $300 and go up from there...
