Default Tecate 4 Exhaust Question...

I've got a FMF Gold series Fatty on here, getting quite a bit of blow by. Will a factory gasket with some hi temp gasket maker do the trick to replace the FMF Gasket? I don't understand why the fatty would not have been a bolt on part instead of the springs. I had one of them brake on yesterday... ( I was getting blow by before it broke...lol)

They FMF for the T-4 is complete junk. It is nothing more than a re-angled T-3 pipe. FMF usually turns out some good stuff but they dropped the ball here. A stock T-4 head pipe produces the same power and hits a much better sweet spot.

I had the same blow by issue with the FMF. Find some good exhaust gasket blank material and cut about 4 o-rings out. Not perfect but it works.

probably because there was never provisions for bolts... they used springs and o-rings from the factory... Get some springs that aren't broken, a new copper ring and some new o-rings for the pipe... clean everthing well and glue it together with healthy bead of black rtv silicone... let it sit overnight before riding... should reduce the leakage and dampen the vibes some...

Well son of a bit@$... the freakin' anchor point for the bottom spring is broken. I am going to do something ingenious tomorrow to fix this, but as of right now I don't know what....

I would not know the difference between the FMF part and the factory part. About the only thing factory on this bike is the casings, I even think the carb has been ported to keep up with the 310. I think I might swap the whole motor out for a thumper out of the KXF 400.

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just going to pretend I didn't hear that....That is nothing to joke about!

Try the RTV trick and 2 springs should hold it.

I think they would too, but now I gotta fiqure out where to put the bottom since the anchor point broke. The spring hit me in the right calf about the time I was changing gears. I thought the damn clutch blew up on it at first...lol. I thought it was just the spring that broke until I got down and looked at it just a little while ago...
