Default Is this a Tecate 4 engine ... cause I think not

Hi guys,

On Ebay Germany there is a Tecate 4 for sale, I'm from Belgium and looking for one for a long time, and the distance is not that much, so it's a possibility for me.
But as I was looking at the pictures of the quad (which looks awesome at first sight), I noticed the engine doesn't look like a Tecate4 engine, but rather on a kx250 dirtbike engine...

Here is a picture:

Can you please advice me ? It's told to be an '88 tecate 4, and the auction ends in a couple of hours...

Your right, its NOT a T-4 engine. No counterbalancer. My guess is that it is a Tecate - 3 (the Trike version)

However if the rest of the bike is in good shape and the price is right...

It's a T3 motor, I already have a T3 and on the pictures it 'looks' identical.
Thanks guys, I think I'm going to skip this one and look further for one with an original engine.

Cool

Guys,

I have a similar question after looking at this T4. I can't figure out how to post pictures on here, but the T4 I just bought has a gray cylinder on a black bottom end, and it vibrates like crazy. Do the T4's only have black cylinders?

Hi Guys,

I didn't bought that tecate, but had the chance to get one cheap today in France (I'm from Belgium). It needs some work, but the engine runs really fine, had been sitting in the guys garage since september. He couldn't get it started, but when I tried it started second kick.

Does any one know if the service manual can be found online in a PDF document or something ? I don't need it for now, but it always comes in handy someday.

Here some pics of my T4:
