Default 88KX250 lost spark HELP!!!!!

I got my 88 KX 250 from the orig. owner for $700.00 w/ a fresh eng./ tranny rebuild. Been all good for months problem free,untill I recently unloaded her @ the track and it would'nt fire up. It lost spark. Guessing the ignition parts could get spendy I thought I would truck it 70 miles to my nearest Kawi shop, pay an hour of diag. time & know for certian what was up. Well the tech assigned to my bike told me that the yellow wire coming from the stator is grounding out & that tells him I need a new stator, but, get this, he also says that I should REALLY replace the whole ignition system due to it may have set off a "chain reaction" of problems with the coil & CDI. He also said there is no known way to test a CDI box & the coil could test good but be bad.WTF?? Is the tech right or is he smoking crack? The parts guy said those three ignition parts was gonna cost $768.00! I asked about aftermarket sources for a cheaper deal. He said that Kawi is the only one with the parts because it's sooo old & obsolete. This all sounds like a load of crap from these two.I do all of my wrenching on my harley, nova and truck. I dont have any other indy or dealer shops to take it to. If replacing all three is what I gotta do, ok then, I'll do it myself,but Damn, there's gotta be someplace in america I can buy the ignition parts cheaper. Never go to the dealer unless you have to, I know. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ummmm yeah that sounds like a load of bullshit to me u might be able to get a stator for your bike from ricky stator or bike bandit.com

notorious for bad stator coils, Replace coils for like less than $50.

Default no spark kx 250

I found a complete PVL ignition replacement w/ puller included from Penton Racing Products. No prices on thier website, but I did find the same Penton PVL set up @ Dirt Bike, Motocross, Motorcycle Gear and Accessories for Fox Racing, Thor Racing, Alpinestars and more .. WorldWide! for $492.10 w/ a 6 month warranty, which is the cheapest price I've found so far online. Anybody ever heard of Penton PVL ignitions before? I've read several online magazine tests on them & they all rave about them. I'll be calling both Penton & Mx South first thing tommorow. One things for sure, I'm not letting those 2 dealer monkeys touch it. I'm picking it up tomorrow! Nothing says customer service from the dealer like spending 30 minutes MYSELF & finding what I need!! I'll NEVER take it back there again!!!

So it just all of a sudden lost spark?? Did you install a new plug? Still no spark? Did you wash the bike recently? Might want to unplug all the electrical and blow out the connectors and then squirt some dielectric grease in there. Remove the coil from the frame and sand the frame where it contacts and the contact points themselves. Also remove the spark plug cap and cut 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the end and screw the cap back on and see if there is any change. That dumbshit at the shop that said, "You can test the coil but it can still be bad" should put down the tools and go flip burgers.

I would try all that before I spend $400+.

Yep she just lost fire. I had rode it for 20 minutes or so@ my place with a new plug in it to make sure all was good before heading to the track. 45 minutes later I unloaded it & she wouldnt fire off. I checked the plug which was 20 minutes old , it looked fine but to be sure I replaced it. I then checked all grounds, wiring & connectors. Found that power is coming out of my stator, well it lights my test light when I kick it over but I dont know if there has to be a certain amount coming from the stator or what. It had been ridden daily since it's last wash which was 2 weeks prior to this episode, & it's garage kept.

Default New ignition system is on the way

After talking to Penton Racing Products to get the full scoop on the PVL, I then ordered my complete PVL ignition system today. It ran me $492.00 & should arrive by Friday. Gonna get my bike from those ass pirates @ the dealer first thing in the morning. $500.00 aint nothin to sneeze at but it's ahelluva lot cheaper than OEM from the pirates.Hopefully if all goes well I'll be riding by Sat or Sun.

Default Got my bike back from the ass priates

Just got home from the dickheads @ the dealership. Man those guys are major fucksticks! I show up @ 8:30 & only 1 saleman there, well he's the only sales man, but the lone tech & lone parts guy are M.I.A. He says I have to come back in a hr. or so cause the techs not ther & has the only key to the back of the shop & back gate. I went fuckin' ballistic after my 70 mile trip to get there. The sales guy shuffles around for 10 min., finally finds keys to the back & I get my bike. While bringing it out, the lone tech shows up & he's got his newly painted crotch rocket in the back of his truck. The sales guy goes over there to the tech & his bike & starts ridin' his nutz about it & droolin over it. They are both less than 5 ft. away from me paying me no fuckin' mind.All the while I'm loadin my bike by myself. No biggie, just par for the course with these dickhead ass bandits. Oh btw I did fuckem' out of a set of OEM side covers I noticed laying in the corner the other day for $15.00 cause they're stupid. I included a pic of them. Anyway I'll NEVER take me bike back there again. Cant wait for my new ignition to show up & to be ridin again.
