Cool Factory Kawasaki GNCC quad pictures

This may be a stupid question, but do y'all remember the custom built quad that was made for William Yokely for the 2001-2002 GNCC series? It was powered by a KX250 engine, and was said to have been ridiculously fast. I just happened to have run across an interview with Jimmy White, and he is shown on a twin to Yokely's quad. IIRC, this is the quad that was tested by Dirt Wheels at Pismo along with the Ninja 500-powered Mojave. This is what I am gathering the parts to replicate. If any of you have any pictures of this beast, please post them here. If they are too large to post, you can send the original sized pics to me at mx4life98@hotmail.com

Here's a shot of this monster with The Man aboard:

It was very sweet but obviously not ridicously fast enough to win. That thing must be costing a fortune to replicate. Wow, I would like to have one but I think I would just go build a honda.

Nick, that thing was a lot faster than you give it credit for. It could smoke heavily worked 250Rs without any trouble. That's what twelve years of constant engine development will get you. It wasn't that it didn't win, because it won its fair share of races, it was that it vibrated very badly (no counter-balancer), and it was an anomaly in the Kawasaki line-up. They had nothing like it in the showrooms, and they had no intention of producing anything like it. Besides making people realize that Kawasaki could beat (percieved) all-mighty Honduh, it served no purpose. As far as building a 250R, are you kidding me? I'm building this to stand out from the crowd, not run with it. Everywhere I look at home, I see a 250R. Where's the originality there? I am a strong supporter of Kawasaki, and I can't stand being associated with the Honduh mentality that no one will ever make anything better. It's an attitude that was formed in the early eighties and dorks just won't let it go. Whoa, sorry for the rant. I guess I summed up my opinion of Honduh and its customers.

I applaud you for the most part but I dont see it smoking a built 250r. 250 motors all make upper 40's to low 50's. Setup to perform in a mx or cross country. Obviously drag motors make more. Not to mention um big bore kit. The difference in technology is you dont need hundreds of dollars to squeeze that power out its is already there. They have a smoother band because of the powervalve but the peak power is basically same. Have you ever looked at a 89CR250 cylinder, they have had the technology a long time they just didnt put it in quads. The only real refinement through the years on dirt bikes is minor changes like powervalve operation and such. A 89CR jug with the Powervalves open is the same port timing I would set a race/dune motor at on a honda 250. 188ex 34BD for the record. If you go and drop a big bore then you are looking at more power yet than that kx250 will be cabable of. Not to mention no vibration.

as stated earlier comparing a dirtbike 250motor to a quad 250 is not the same ,the quads dont have near the port layout like the modern dirtbike engines do ,i dont think vibration plays a big role in the 250 motor swap ,its usually the 500cc motors that cause everyone so much grief .if you mount it the smart way it (250) shouldnt be rattling your teeth.lol i really like the kips powervalve on kawaskis over honda. ive yet to be really impressed with a built up honda or szuki 250 motor for drag racing around my way, atleast not a 250cc without booze anyway. im thinking the yokley mobile didnt win often because yokley doesnt know how to ride the damn thing or had a lousy year IMO.save yourself some jing and just buy a nice t4 wit ha out/frame drag pipe, raise up the compression add in a dune/drag port , throw in some booze and a huge alky carb and youll rip up some bigger bikes for sure.

If you got the money to build that thing throw some my way I could use it for my stroker motor.

Evil come on down to the dunes next year at snakehunt and see if there is not any fast 250hondas, Im sure Ill be the only fast suzuki though. You sure as hell dont see any tecates taking names though.

You can compare porting layouts on a built fourwheeler motor to a dirt bike. They are similar after extensive work is done to the quad motor except there is no wing ports (unless you can really weld and cut) or powervalve, unless you buy a pro-x PV motor which has both. In my opinion modern advances in pipe design and porting design have advanced past technology placed in cylinder developement. If design was perfect people wouldnt port motors. You think Pro MX riders motors are unported? I mean in the beginning porting quads was based off what was learned from porting dirt bikes, maybe slight differences are needed for powerdelivery. Bottom line when building a ridable 250 only a certain amount of power is made and all are very equal, its in drag racing where design prevails and dramatic differences of layout are found.

id agree the 250s an make great power when ported similar to modern dirtbike motors ive ported some dirtbike motors,as fa ras dra g250s yes i know there are some killer builtup 250's stomping down bigger bikes, just none in my immediate area that are anything to write home about. it takes alot of correction either way(quad or dirtbike) imo . casting flaws are bad on suzukis and hondas in comparison to yamahas of coarse the yammies dont flow for shizzle from the factory like the 250 ' do.

Faster or not, to each is his own. If you build the quad you say you want to, it should be nice. Be sure to send pics when your done. I haven't been to Waynoka in a year, but I plan to come back up in September.
