Default Tearing down my 89' kx500 what all should we do while we have it apart?

Hey guys first post, looks like an awsome board. I am getting ready to go through my kx needs a base gasket and some oil seals. It only runs RIGHT with 115 octane race gas, On 93 it loads/stumbles so bad in first I got smoked by a 250f honda. It seems to have plenty of compression just real laggy/luggy with nomal gas and also hates to idle with any thing but the 115-fouls plugs on 93. Could I come down a few jets to clear it up ? Or should I just go a head and tear it all down and put it together right? any tips on what to use-wiesco or factory for longevity?

Thanks guys there might be other threads like this but I just joined and am unfamiliure with the search/feachers of this board.

Get a actual compression test on the top end and check your reeds. You also may need to change crank seals. Look on your ignition cover and see if its wet. I have a 89 KX 500 also and just went through through the motor. You can PM me and a number and i can call you and let you know more on it.
