Default New KTM

I have just bought a 2004 KTK 200sx and I'm not sure about the maintenence on it. Does anyone know how often I should do the piston and rings?

Thanks!

i would say whenever you want to or when you lose compression...do it as often as any other bike...talk to some other guys on here and see how often the do it...i just got an 07' ktm 300 xc and it runs like a tank...all my friends on jap bikes overheat while im still going and i ride harder than they do!

I've been told around 100 hours of regular riding time. With the Nikosil cylinder you can just replace the piston with a pro-lite because they have better lubing and lighter, well or just replace the rings but either way freaking cheap to keep like new!!!

DO NOT ORDER FROM YOUR KTM DEALER they will overcharge you at least $40 buks on a wisco piston kit... I know from experience. Either go to rockymountain or some other sites and it will be cheaper and usually quicker shipping.

I change the top end in my YZ250 once a year, and have decided that I will do the bottom end once every two years. Obvioulsy I dont race, or I would be doing it much more often that.

It just depends on how hard you ride the bike, and how well its maintained. I baby my bike, and dont ride balls to the wall all the time like a racer does, so mine last much longer.

I've been racing on the tracks and gp courses and my bike has a total of 33 hours and almost 700 miles on her... I wish now that I would have bought a sx and been 25lbs lighter but I still get some on the mx track!!! The thing that will help you the most about a KTM is BUY A PROGRESSIVE RATE SPRING it will make the world of a difference and takes a whole 20 mins to install.
