Default pick up coil?

hi i striped my 85 lt250r like a week ago to paint and yesterday when i was puting everything back i could find the pick up coil does this quad have one? i got the wire diagram and it shows it but i checked the wires and it look like i dont need it (im prob wrong) can anyone help me.. i need to know how the rewire the whole bike minus the wires for the lights since i have none...thanks

It's a little black box-looking thing that sits beside the flywheel behind the stator cover. It's OUTSIDE of the flywheel in the 2-3 o' clock position.

for no lights, you don't need the gray wires, yellow/red wire, and regulator. you can also remove some of the black/white wires. you can also get rid of that plastic thumb throttle with the on/off for the lights and replace it with a newer aluminum thumb throttle or a twist.

thanks i have a twist now but im thinking of changing it to a thumb....do you know whats better twist or thumb?

its pretty much personal preferance...some like twist some like thumb....i have twist on my tecate and i like it just like that....and i have thumb on my trail boss 350 and i like it like that too

i like a thumb. it felt a little funky at first but you get used to it. now i think i thumb feels weird.
