Hey all new to the site but not new to 2-strokes. I am in the process of tearing down a 86 250R and I went to order the crank bearings from a company called www.psep.biz . I opted to just buy the bearings and not the bearing kit due to the fact that I already have the seals but at the bottom where you can buy just the bearings there is only one listed and the 500 has two listed one for right and one for left. on the 250 are both sides the same bearing?? Also before I split my cases my reason for tearing down the machine was due to a sort of rolling noise in the bottom end, It ran perfect though. Should I continue to believe its crank bearings even though the previous owner said there was 10 hours on it? Could it be just the balancer, if so how do I check. Thanks y'all

Welcome to E2S. Give John a holla about those bearings at RJatv. There is a right side and a left side crank bearing on all bikes. Noises are hard to diagnose unless you're right there with the machine. Post up some pic's of the R.

| Some bikes do have the same exact crank bearings for both sides, the LT250R is not one of them, there are 2 different sizes. I do carry them if you need them. I would try and figure out your problem before buying anything though. Why purchase something you might not have to.

Thanks for the welcome. lets put it this way, I believe there was very little oil in it when it was ridden. Thats the only reason I led to crank bearings. If you guys have anything Else I can check first I deff will. Is there a way to check the bearings. Could the balancer cause the horrible rolling noise. The thing never knocked and never lost compression, It still went through all gears no problem but I shut it off when the sound wouldn't go away in hopes of saving the motor from complete failure. I do have another motor but it sounds just as ruff. Thanks for the help in advance.

When does the noise happen, is it there the whole time, My 85 at idle sounds like it has a little growl in the lower end, but when you give it a little gas it goes away. I have a friend with the same machine and the same noise at idle. I have been told that the 85-86 LT250R will sound a little rough at idle.

It seems to carry on a little into the throttle but at high end goes away. It is bad at idle though. I should be able to check the crank bearings by seeing If I can move the shaft up or down corect. Also shouldn;t the shaft turn super easy without noise??

There will be some play side to side, but no play up and down on the shaft, and yes it should turn by hand easy and free of sound
