Default 1986 Lt 250 acting up

I have a 1986 Lt 250 that I just picked up for $900.00. However when I took it out today it was acting ok but then when I raced with my brothers quadzilla it started acting up. When I shift into 5th gear the bike bogs out when I hit the throttle. Then I let the bike sit and when I started to ride it again I shift it to 2nd gear and it was hesitating it wanted to bogg out. The bike would go then like die down then go again then die down till it turned off. The bike had gas and choke was off. Whats wrong can someone help me.

could be a couple of things, maybe a clogged jet i would clean the carb. check if your getting good fuel flow to the carb, sounds like its not getting gas or the spark might be cutting out.

I had a similar problem with my 85 few weeks ago. It would run fine and do exactly what yours did. Well my 5 year old son figured it out. The gas cap wasnt breathing right it was vapor locking. I had pulled the fuel line and nothing came out and when he took the cap loose she flowed. So I started banging the cap around and rust came out where the hose was on the top. If that aint the problem then you need to dissasemble the carb and clean it up.

Goto the parts store buy a can or 2 of carb cleaner aeresol spray. Grab you some newspaper lay it out on a table. Remove your carb and clean and dissasemble. If your unsure where the parts go grab a digital cam and take some photos. I usually just lay everything out in the order I take it apart but I repair automobiles for a living and it comes easy for me. What kind of carb does it have on it a mikuni or other?
