help /w weird shutoff problem

Ok so my gfs brothers friend is gonna sell me a quad racer for 1000 dollars.

It comes with lots of extras and its an 88 with title but there is one problem with it.

When you shutoff the gas it starts over reving it will start low then rev really high almost to the wide open point.

I was wondering what could that be?

Could it be the reeds? or is there a hole in the airbox somewhere any suggestions would be great.

What do you mean shut off the gas? Turning the petcock off, or letting go of the throttle? If you mean turning the fuel off, then thats normal. The float bowl eventually gets to low to supply the jets, and it leans out and revs up.

Yeah this is normal if you are shutting off the petcock. Like when a chainsaw runs out of gas it will rev first

ya it will start to miss and rev to full throttle for about 5 sec..just normal when u shut it off...u usually do that for storage to clean out the carbs..well here in vegas we do that
