I always hear and read comments on how the zilla is too wide for the trails but I have yet to find a trail the zilla couldnt negotiate. Honestly, any trail a Banshee or a 400EX can ride on a zilla will do just fine on. It's only a few inches wider.
If theres one thing about the zilla that doesnt need upgrading for normal trail use.........it's the suspension. If it's in good shape it's a nice plush ride. I think the ride is actually more comfortable than my 89 LT250 which has Works on the front and an Ohlins on the rear.
If it's stock, keep an eye on the ass-end. The carrier likes to get loose, the axle likes to get loose, the chain likes to break. For some reason, even with a new loc-nut, the swingarm bolt likes to get loose on mine.
If you keep everything in top form and in a good maintained fashion, it'll give a really good ride. Let things get sloppy and you'll be holding on for dear life.
There are tons of useful info in this section. Read thru the old posts for some tips and things to look for.
