88 lt 500 no power

just bought a 88 lt quad not running to full potenetial has a kehin flat side carb ,cool head ,stock pipe , stock reed cage with boyseen reeds , have a v force that came with bike but needs reeds ,starts easy has tons of compresson runs good low but no top end ,also has the power valve set with knob at 500 and 0 ,kn airfilter installed. any ideas to unlock this thing would be great .

it sounds like your too lean, go up on your main a couple sizes, if it wasnt rejetting for that carb and for the airfilter im guessing thats what it is.

As stated, check your jetting. Download the manual from the manuals section. Pull the powervalve cover off and make sure it moves freely and then set it to stock specks. Is the V3 installed? If it is and the reeds are bad you'll never get it to run right until you get new petals.

But with a 410 main, I'll bet your plug is covered with black goo.
