Default k6n filter or which?

i am thinking of getting a k&n filter. do they sell it for the lt500r. its not available in their website : www.knfilters.com. does anyone have any suggestions. it could be another brand. i would like it to either replace the airbox or not. which ever works beter and doesn´t require cutting a hole through the original airbox. ide appreciate any input. thanks

I'll second that thier is nothing like a good oiled foam filter uni, twin air,no toil
K&N's are like screen door they flow a lot of air but let a lot of small dust it
IMO for a quad avoid K&N

my zilla came with a k&n. im not sure if its for it but it fits perfectly. i am thinking about getting a twin air for my z400. i do all kinds of riding and to leave the box on. anyone know if the make outerwares for the twin air?

For the zilla i think a k&n would be fine with an outerware to keep sand out but it probly still wouldnt work as good as a foam filter, atleast at keeping the air clean.

i have a k+n on both my 500 and 250. with prefilters. i haven't had any problems with them, and i've had the one on my 500 for about 6 years now.

k+n stopped making the filter for the 500 for some reason. must not have been selling enough of them. every once in awhile a new one will show up on ebay. and i would think some parts houses may still have one in stock.

You could measure your carb and order one to fit it...

K&N's are the first thing i get for anything...Quad, Car or truck. If im racing i dont run a prefilter. If im trail riding...prefilter goes right on. I maintance it about twice a month and it takes like 5 mins.

K&N's flow more, yes, but how much HP is that really worth? I've read some very thorough studies on them, and they tens to allow small sandy particles to flow thru(aka silicon carbide) which scores the cylinder walls over time, reducing compression. Thus, if you run a K&N, run the outerwear. I simply run foam and have a K&N as well, but cannot tell the difference in power, so I vote for protection.

the only K&N filters you can buy now are clamp on's
packard racing sells a very LARGE K&N clamp on filter with a 20degree angle (if you need alot of air flow)

otherwise you can pick up the regular one at a car place, you need the one with a 20degree angle....
