| I had a feeling the compression was a little low. I knew the banshee bashing would follow the post -- it's all good. The banshee really didnt challenge me I guess. I'm kinda of a putzer, I trail ride, like to have a rare machine. Something that will challenge me mechanically (from what I gather I've got he right machine). So I think I will do the top end then go from there. If anyone else has any suggestions on what to do when I have it apart I would love to hear it. |

| maybe the rings are stuck from sitting a long time. |

| the zilla will be fine mechanically, just keep up with the maintenance, and when you do have to fix things, don't cut corners....if you think it might be a good idea to do a little extra...do it....they're just maintenance hungry. I havent had any problems out of mine in 2 years since a full rebuild.

| There is a place called quadracerHQ.com that has all the reliabilty fixes for the LT500. It is sponsored by Dr Q who is THE zilla guru. They are superior bikes when modded correctly. Have the wrong mods, or don't maintain them properly and you will have problems. Do it right and enjoy one of the best ATV's ever.

| Ya banshee guy talking shit.....hahaha I have owned them all banshee's trx250r's lt250 and my two zilla's and my fuckin banshee blew up aall the time then the crank went its great when there is two of everything to replace .. ive had my 87 going for a bit now never ever have i had to rebuild the slut......i let it warm up maybe 2 minutes then fuckin twang on it first to fith and she holds strong I love it ....it was a good trade .....It sounds to me like u need new piston and rings or a new gasket with the zilla the motor mounts at the top will constantly be torking at ur top end gasket and trying to pull them apart make sure ur head is on tightened correct 20lbs |

| oh the shit talk between banshee and zilla guys never ends... i've oned both... my prefence is banshee... the zilla is too big for my liking... bansheeslayer sjnds to me like you had a crank seal go bad.... a very common problem on a zilla... anywy to the guy that started the thread... i made the exact opposite trade about 2 years ago.... you'll find the answers to your questions here.... make sure to check your stator side crank seal and see if there i any play in the bearing also... that is a very common issue on zillas... they wallow out the bearing seat in the case and leak air like crazy... top ends usualy last about 8 hours when that happens.. |
