Default lt500 timing question

ok guys i have a good question for the smarter zilla owners out there.... i recently finally got around to ripping my engine apart an noticed when it came time to take apart the sprockets for the timing i noticed the 2 notches on the sprockets lined up but the 3rd notch on the crankshaft was off by 1 notch counterclockwise on the crankshaft..... to me this seems like a mistake anyone out there know if this is ok or was it put together wrong?? the only thing i cn guess is he was trying to retard the timing?? any input would be great thanks

i'm assuming you're talking about the gears on the clutch cover side . those "timing" marks are your counterbalancer marks they wont affect your timing at all ...but if they are a notch or two off they will make it vibrate like crazy ...most people dont even notice the third mark tho .. so you are worlds ahead of most just for that ....good luck with it the zilla is a finicky ride but if you take care of her and maintain her she will treat you well
