| You don't need the washers on the stock head. The manual says 18.8 - 21.7 lb ft.

| You said that you have new studs. If you upgraded to the 10MM studs, you can torque to 28ft/lbs. More torque means less likely to blow gaskets. -Matt |

| I would go 25 ft lbs, thats safe enough for me, and I dont know if you have it or not but Cometic Gasket will make you a copper base gasket, I had them do it for me because I kept blowing them out right under the exhaust, this fixed my problem for good, and they are reusable. As far as washers go on the head, if you are useing A-corn nuts then maybe a washer might be needed for clearance, but if you are useing regular nuts then you might not have to.

| In my experience the manual always gives too low torque specs. Everytime I go by the book I end up torquing them down tighter to stop leaks. Has anybody had this problem?

| Yes I have, thats why I like to torque 25 instead of the manuals 21 on the base and head bolts.
