| NEGATIVE, all springs are good and new, no scrapes in the cover,,, I think im gonna take it apart and use a sharpy marker and color the basket, put together and try, maybe ill see a scrape mark.. I got the 2 washers in there were there suppose to be also, new bearings too, other than that noise nothing is wrong, basket is tight, no wobble so my next question is if it is hitting the spring, how the hell do you move that over AND get the cover back on ?? |

| The kick return spring rubbing is not going to make a noise while running as it only rubs as you kick the quad over. A very thin thrust washer is usually against the plastic spring locator on the shaft which gives clearance for the spring from hitting the cover. Very common to lose this washer as it likes to stick to the cover when you pull it off and then gets lost as you don't realise it fell out. Common rub noise on the zilla is the crank nut is loose. Another, as already stated, is a loose clutch spring bolt. Then theres the bearing for the power valve actuator on the cover. Another is the water pump bearing is junk. Another is the impeller nut. Not much else can cause a rub on the clutch cover. Whatever it is, you should stop running it until you locate it. At the least, you could cause some serious damage to the cover. Loose crank nut, well, that'll fuck everything up. Been there.

| Thanks for the tips im gonna check on those, im gonna look into the water pump next, ive already taken the clutch apart 3 times last night and the noise is still there. It was fine then the bike sat for a couple mos. over the winter and now the noise. its not rubbing anywhere on the cover, and i dont think its the spring either. But the sound stops when the clucth is pulled so it must be something under there, ill keep ya posted |

| When its in neutral & you pull the clutch, it stops right? Its going to be somthing around in that general area, get a good spotlight & sift thru the Clutch/Waterpump parts untill you find the piece. If it has been rubbing there will be little nick/rub marks in the piece. After the clutch cover of off, try to replicate the noise by turning the clutch basket or stator while in neutral.

| which way is the thrust bearing on the rack facing? the needles should face the rack, not the pressure plate. if it didn't make the sound before, its the only thing that could have been put on wrong. not sure ifit would make a noise though. it woud wear out the pressure plate! |

| Just got done ! you woudnt believe what I found when I pulled off that pressure plate,, F@#$kin Jimmy Hoffer was in there making a sandwich !! No for real,, i knew it had to be suttin stupid,, I noticed this time that YES indeedie the thrust bearing was facing the plate, its the only thing i never checked all those times, im gonna start her up tomorrow, and then my trash talking banshee buddy is gonna have to try crawling outa that hole he dug for himself Thank you for playing the " Name That Sound " Thanks guys |

| Like Kane stated check the bearings. If a bearing goes south the ball bearing retainer could have went to shit and now the balls are running into each other. Run a magnet in the very bottom of the case under the clutch basket and see if any metal pieces stick to it.

| I thought he ment the bearings behind the basket, ( crank bearings ? ) i hadnt even noticed the thrust bearing to be honest, it probably slid off and then i must have put it back on upside down,, Plus when i was doing this i wear rubber gloves and everything is covered with oil, i think I must have looked at it quick and thought the bearings rolled on both sides, i hadnt realized there was a smooth side |
