Trany Differances in '87 & '89

What are the differances in an '87 and '89 Zilla trany's?

Gear ratios?
Bearing?
anything?

the gear ratios are different in the last 2 gears
87 is the only one different

There is no difference inside the tranny, it's outside sprockets that make it dofferent.

RJ: "outside gears" does that mean chain sprocket gears or what?

Zilla87: So 4th and 5th?

I am tring to replace my 2nd gears. Drive and driven just want to be sure the ratio does not change from stock '89.

Yah i guess i shoulda said it better, like you said, sprockets are different, the 87 calles for a 98 link chain while the 88-90 calls for a 96.

4th and 5th gears in the 88-up's are closer together...suzuki compensated for the loss of top end with different sprockets making the chain length different. but the acutally gears are different.
