Default Emergency! Please Help Fix The Quadzilla!

Hi,

I'm working on my cousin's Quadzilla, trying to get it ready for a riding trip. Unfortunately, everything was done at the last minute and we are running into a problem trying to get it back together. The problem is that the foot shifter won't return down on an upshift motion. The only thing we can think of is that the spring on gearshift shaft may be wore out or not on the stopper properly. So, we are trying to take the clutch basket off to pull the shaft out and inspect the spring. My main question is, how can you take the clutch basket out without a special tool? And, are the threads normal or left-handed? Any help with this problem would be GREATLY appreciated, and I would appreciate any other suggestions on how to fix the problem with the shifter. Thank you for your time.

Are you talking about the tool to hold the basket in place? Just hold the basket with your hand and hammer the nut off with an impact.

Well, in the field, without much more than a basic tool set, you can use the blade of a screwdriver (cringe) and hit the handle with a hammer to loosen the flywheel nut. I actually hate to say that, though it seems (based on all the mangled nuts I've had to replace) to be the most common way people remove the nut.
