Default sold one and got a monster.... (Now with PICS)

So sat I sadly sold my beloved 2003 blaster. It was a really good bike and fast for 200 cc's....but I found a great deal! (plus I bought the blaster for 900 and sold it for 1500!!!)

Anyway, a 2 1/2 hour drive to get up to Maine and I soon found out that the trip was well worth it. At first glace I saw new maier plastics and a fresh ceet and my heart began to flutter. The sun hit the four douglas aluminum rims just right casting the right amount of glare to distract my attention from the HUGE fmf expansion chamber. (which has a fare amount of surface rust on it) And then the owner came out, wearing a sneaker and one riding boot. My buddy asked "why only one boot"?

Because this thing will kick back like mule on meth...

He gave it a couple kicks and the monster let out a sound so wonderful....instant sticky pants. A quick spin around the yard and I was sold, even though it fouled a plug. (jetted WAY to rich) I had to act tough, time to talk turkey. But wait...another set of rear tires mounted on.....more douglas rims? Are those....yes! Paddles! But, but here he said takes these too, 2 rear turf tamers and take this old head, it has a crack in it but maybe you could do something with it.

but there is more, he pointed out some of the recent things he has done to it...
ball joints
prodesign cool head
keihin carb
v force reeds
o ring chain
k n air filter w/wrap
weisco piston
new cylinder
pretty much the whole top end
hinson clutch
and more....

It needs some tuning, wont hold idle and fouls plugs out and is flat on the top but for 1500 bucks I'm all in. I think I got deal....a GREAT deal. Pics will be posted tomorrow.

Oh yeah, you wondering what "it" is? It starts with lt and ends with 500r.
Yup. Quadzilla and for 1500 bucks. Thats only 3 dollars a cc!

P.S. I cant wait to kick some 4 stroke ass at quadfest. Maybe a little banshee tail too.....

Your motor needs to be tuned bad. Kicking like he says it does is caused by being very lean, if I remember correctly. Make sure you tune it in before riding it.

There they are....

I think I may have found the problem, the reed are junk. The edges are chipped, one has a small crack, one doesn't seat. The middles are very bad. One looks like it is half sucked out and one is missing I think. With the middle set, are there petals on both sides? Does anyone have pics of what these are supposed to look like? Thanks alot...

And what are they v-force 2's or 3's??? If anyone is selling some........

Thanks guys

Congratulations on your new ride. You will love the zilla. That's quite an upgrade from a Blaster.

Did you happen to get that in the Bath/Brunswick area? Does it happen to be white? It sounds very similar to one I looked at, which also happened to have a crack in the cylinder. As I recall, the cylinder cracked because of an improperly installed cool head. It was running but the cylinder needed to fixed/replaced.

That's funny about the single riding boot ... I have done the same thing. Zillas definitely kick hard, especially when tuned wrong. I still wear a riding boot to kick it.

By the way, I have been trying to get a group of zilla riders together for a day of riding in Mass. You interested?

those are v force 2's. replacement reeds cost about $60. thats the best reed valve you can get for the 500. i have one, they do work good.

your carb is jetted to lean. my 500 will start in one kick after sitting for 2 weeks. in sneakers!

I'm almost positive that's the same zilla that I looked at. I just noticed that you mentioned a new cylinder in your original post but you may want to look into it further. Dollars to donuts, the guy in Auburn purchased it from the guy in Bath. I specifically recall the orange footpegs, race cut white fenders, cool head, etc. Hopefully the guy in Auburn fixed the head???

Did the seller mention anything about the cylinder being cracked or recently being replaced? If not, you may want to pull the cylinder and check it out. At a minimum, you should pull the head and check inside the cylinder. The story I got was that the cylinder cracked due to an improperly installed dome inside the cool head or maybe it was an improperly torqued head ... I can't recall.

I have heard of the V-Force reeds losing screws and having them sucked into the cylinder, which is not a good thing. Are you missing any screws or any pieces of reed pedals?

I thought the V-Force3 reed cage was black so those may be V-Force2??? Someone else will know better than I.

I got V2s from Dr.Q but it looks like you may only need a reed pedal replacement set and not the entire cage.
