Default I got to start this now?

(BS's wife)

SWEET GOD ALMIGHTY! I was just wondering if anyone had any great tricks to getting the zilly to fire up when its not warm..... I think my leg almost fell off the other day!

Of course marc gets on it and it fires right up for him! Now it starts mid kick when its warmed up...but when its cold I can't get it to start and I can stand on the kick start and it wont move sometimes....soooooo if anyone has any WONDERFUL ideas on how I can not look like a pansy this summer I would greatly appreciate it! Perhaps some add on or something to make it a little easier.....its kinda embarassing when I have to get him to start it I look like such a girley girl

First thing is to kick it over 4-5 times slowly with the choke on to sort of prime the motor. Then it usually only take 1 or 2 quick kicks to get mine started.

Thats a quadzilla for you. =) there really isn't a whole lot that can be done about it being hard to start when its cold. Don't EVER try and start it without boots on. Yeah kick kinda easy a couple times with the ignition switch off and the choke on, then flip the ignition on and give it everything you got. It sound like it MIGHT need one size bigger pilot jet inside the carburetor

He's probably got that throttle held at thesweetspot, too. Mine likes to fire right up if the throttle is held at a tiny twist as I kick it on the second kick.

We usually just hit the throttle as we kick and that seems to work on the Zuki's. definatly kick it a few time to prime the motor. Then make sure you have the kicker so it has all that pressure at the top of the kick and put everything you have into it. I'm 230lbs so it won't hold my weight. Always wear a good boot or your foot could break. I had stress fractures from kicking mine back in the day from it backfiring that kicker comes back up so damn fast.

My buddy had one where he had to make sure the piston was at the top of the cylinder when he kicked it. It was just easier for it to start that away.

Sorry to hear you guys are having trouble starting your zillas cold. Most of the time its a single fast kick for me and the quad comes to life. I dont know, maybe im just special of something but I do believe the jetting is a tad on the rich side. I find that it is actually harder to start the thing once its hot, but it only takes 2-3 kicks max then. Starting is easy, its just a bitch to get that thing turned over, Ive lost 3 pairs of shoes that way.

My banshee used to be a bitch to start when it was cold until I changed the jetting. I used to kick the snot out of it forever when it wasn't summertime, but now I just throw the chokes on and kick it one or 2 times and it's on. If I touch the gas it'll screw it all up and I'll kick it a little more to get it started.

I know the banshee isn't physically as hard to kick, but my old 350X without a decompression cable and the CR500 almost permanantly disabled me so I know where everyone is coming from. Sorry to hear about your problem BS_traction, but my girlfriend has problems getting the blaster started, haha. At least you have a REAL excuse why you can't get the zilla goin.
