| im relatively new to the 2-stroke world, so im tryin to pick up what i can from everyone i can! the current mtr in my LT500 is pretty cashed. i got a second mtr. that has -- new- +.050 over bore, standard +.050 wiseco piston (not hi-comp.), the bottom end has been rebuilt. should u jet rich for mtr. breakin ? the current jetting is - pilot #30 main 330 jet needle 63dk middle clip position. i run torco 110 oct. NGK br7es plug mixed 50:1 w/ belray mc1 synthetic oil. what im getting at is what would be a good jetting starting point for after the mtr. is broke in? elevation is between 1100 and 1700ft. where i ride and 50-90 deg (summer weather). oh and a foam uni air filter. #2 does anyone recomend those pyramid reeds? and those reed spacers from rocky mtn. whats the story on them? and i do general trail/hill/ and some drags w/ this zilla. any info would be awesome and greatly apprreciated!! thanx - dan |

| If I can remember correct the lower the number the colder the plug. Stock is the 8EGV which is what I use. With a 330 main and .050 over you may wanna up the jetting a tad. Stock jetting is 350 main. I'm at .080 over and run a 440 main(on the rich side). But I would run a richer fuel mixture for break in. Try a 370 or 380 for starters. Check the LT500 section. Alot of good info there. Good luck with the beast! -Mark

| oh it came w? a fmf fatty pipe whats the ix plug?? ad says the spacer is for topend i didnt know if it would hinder my bottom end?! |

| I've never heard of a reed spacer helping the top-end. The IX is the irridium plug. More expensive than any other but last forever. When they foul from oil you can clean them over and over. The only thing that really kills a plug is when the sharp edges of the electrode get rounded. Then it begins sparking inside the plug instead of at the end. Platinum and irridium plugs conduct the current more efficiently and are a harder material allowing for longer use. They won't do a thing about fouling though. Thats all in jetting and pre-mix ratios/quality. NGK/ND = the lower the number the hotter the plug. Champion (fishing weights) = the higher the hotter. |
