| I have a question.....i saw a really nice quadzilla by my house and was woundering what your take and thoughts where on it. Its a 89 frame with a , the guy told my its a 90') 89' motor in it and a guy at a near powersport shop just rebuitl the entire motor. trany, crakn, cylinder, everything. the only thing wrong visably is a couple dents here and there and the right side front and rear wheel have dents and the front left a-arm has i little dent. the only aftermarket part are v-force reeds. sprokets are in awsome condition. the guy wants like $2995 but one of the guys that worked their said we might be able to talk him to $2500. so like is this a good deal. and is it a really good and reliable quad. i want something that will have well basically your avarage 2-stroke matinance but something that will haul a** and just rips my arms off everytime i hit the throttle and wheeleis forever. so with that in mind what are your thiughts? |

| thats nice but but i want your guy's thoughts on the zilla |

| Well if it's good shape, 2500$ sounds like an ok deal. Check the swing arm bearings, a-arm bearings and carrier bearings. If they haven't been replaced I can assure you there shot. Tilt the quad on it's rear and make sure the frame is straight. Reliability? They say that the 500 is like a high maintanence blonde. Always feeding tons of money into it. I beg to differ. Only minor prob I had was my clutch cable broke. Some people say that the clutchbaskets are a weak link. If you wanna just mix the gas and go I don't know if this would be the quad of choice. Don't get my wrong, I haven't had any major issues but with the 500 it comes with a certain upkeep. It's like a old school muscle car, always fiddling with little crap to keep it running right. But I feel it's worth it. There's nothing like a fine tuned zilla. I think my arms a few inches longer since I got my 500. -Mark

| The Zilla is a bad ass machine, but like Reeper said it will cost you some real cash if it needs work. Make sure you check everything out really good. Make sure you take it for a ride before you buy it.

| yup they are the quad to get if you want arm ripping power. i haven't had that many problems with mine, just the usual up keep. make sure you check all the bearings in the chassis and listen to the engine run, for knocking or any other odd noises. and make sure you take it for a ride. |

| For a stock Zilla $2000 is what I would pay. Yes he had the motor redone but that only goes so far unless it was done right. Do you know the people that rebuilt it. I would go down and ask them and just talk to them to get a feel for how well they know there shit. Talk to them for 1/2 hour and you will know if they rebuilt it well. I would say offer $2000 and you will probably get it for $2250. Thats just me I hard ball everyone mainly because I have enough toyz so going and buying a new toy I really don't have a need to buy makes it really easy to walk away. As for maintance like everyone said if you maintain it well it will run well. If you just ride it and park it it will blow up the 3rd time you take it out. Once you have it running you will have a crazy fast ride. Good luck

| thanx guy you really helped me out alot...ill try and go see it again but the guy said i cant ride it but a guy will ride it and we can watch him and listin for everything...the checking the engine was a good thought for listining for knocking ill keep that in mind. oh and like would your daily work on it..is it just like every other 2 stroker.. trany oil, make sure all the bolts are tight, and stuff like that? and what are the big things to look for after every ride? |

| Make sure the chain tensioner stays straight. Sometimes the stock bolts arent enough to keep everything in line. I had to install larger studs in my Zilla years ago, once that was done Ive had no problems. Definetly keep the bolts tight, These machines do vivbrate a little more than some others.

| make sure you pick the front end up to see how the ball joints are. if you hear a clunking might be the joints. the lower ones seem to go alot. and should be replaced right away. check to see if there is any coolant coming out from under the water pump cover. there is a little hole that it would come out. if there is a screw or gasket sealer in it it needs new seals. never really had any bolts come loose on mine except for the swingarm bolt. well it broke, didn't come loose. just lucky i guess. |
