Default Quadzilla power valve

I am currently restoring an 87 quadzilla. The owner before me removed the powervalve and all related components. Why? I have heard of people who do the same and buy a copper base gasket with a powervalve block-off. How does it affect the performance? Anyone out there who has powervalve parts? I am just trying to weight my options.
Thanks,

the suzuki powervavles are a crappy design... with the powervavle blocked you can actually do alot more portign on the exhaust side... i did think you needed to have the powervale area welded up though... seems like it would still leak air with just a base gasket to block it off...

It would be better off to weld the hole up for slight restriction reasons but I wouldnt worry about it leaking because the exhaust is not going to force its way down through there when it can simply exit throught the large hole. Its better to actually rotate the valve shut and take the spring out, place a penny behind the cap and tighten it down the its stuck shut. I have all the parts but I am just experimenting with removing it on my 250. Unless you fell you have a need for more lowend power than you are producing now then dont worry about it at all. And by the way its not a true powervalve its a power chamber activated by a rolling valve.

Default power valve

Still wouldnt mind taking it back to original. You can't get too much of a good thing. The 250 "rolling valve" is the same as the 500 but that is all. None of the actuation mechanisim will work from the 250.

the suzuki powervale setup is junk.... it's so restictive that i think it actually kills power.... you want a real power vavle setup take a look at kawi's KIPS setup thats how a powervavle should really work... the suzuki "powerrestictorvalve" is junk.. or dare a say complete power robbing crap.......

The KIPS is good for its age but newer dirtbike powervalves are better, like the ones Pro-X uses and the Cheata's.

I didnt know if the entire mechanism was the same I just figured it was for the sake of conversation. I wouldn't worry about it just like 370 said.
