LT500 piston to cylinder clearance

i have a brand new cylinder and a brand new wiesco stock piston. in the paper work with the piston it says the clearance should be .010. i can just get the feeler gauge in between the piston and cylinder.

is this what it should be? i know its a big piston but it just seems like alot to me.

come on someone must know what the piston to cylinder clearance is on a zilla.

well i can fit a .010 feller gauge between them. everything is new, whats my problem then?

If wiseco reccomends .010 clearance than I would imagine that is correct. The wiseco pistons expand significantly and quickly, and are prone to cold seizing as a result. I just tore mine down, the clearance is .014 on what I was told to be an almost new wiseco piston. That is enough to rattle the piston around in the sleeve that is for sure, and I could have sworn I heard some piston slap.

it just seems so loose. but i guess its all correct. i haven't installed it yet. this is going to be 1 of my winter projects, and i'm making sure i have everything correct before i put it back together.

thats too much if you ask me.... look more for about .006-.008 tops.... then again a zilla piston does have a heavy crown..... and the wrist pin is low........ could be .010 but that seems huge to me......
