| Hi Everyone! Maybe it's not exactly like in thread, I'm here for about two month, but until today, I've been only reading...Now it's time for some writing. At last, my beast is almost finished (after two months of hard work) - the only thing what left is a restoration of plastic and new seat cover. But, after first 2 weeks of riding I have a few questions : - First, how big is stock front sprocket? I have 14 and I think it's little too much... - I know that is the most beloved question on every board buth What sholud be top speed of this thing? (It has almost no mods - New Uni Filter, FMF Silencer, pipe is stock, stock jetting, new piston 0.20) I am asking about this because I think that something is wrong...I don't know exactly what it is but it seems like the engine doesen't produce all the power which it should. I've tried to check this in race and this is the effect - Honda 440EX, ported, jetted, with stage 2 camshaft, bigbore kit and White Power E series exhaust and with 13th sprocket front (stock is 15), keep up with me till my3th gear and then I left it behind. Seems not bad but...you guys have written many times that wheelie on 5th gear is not a problem. And on this machine, wheelie on tarmac on 3th gear IS a problem - this is why i think there something bad happens there ![]() Of course, whole quad is after careful rebuilding. Any help will be greatly appreciated I'm not a newbie, I have almost 12 quads before this one, and every one of them has been torned down and completely rebuilt.PS. Sorry for my English, I'm still far away from perfection... ![]() |

| i think hes reffering to Warsaw Poland. a zilla with stock porting isnt going to pulling top gear power wheelys ,3rd gear is possible. your jetting may be off ,whats the plug look like? you really should get some mods like a new exhaust sytem from dyno port or power pros ,the stocker is garbage ,a new carb ,maybe a k&n w/outerware and no lid on your airbox, delta vforce reed intake..etc...

| Yes front is 13 and rear is 40. I believe that stock jetting on an 87 is 420 and 88-90 was 350. So you could be either lean or rich. My guess is that you have an 88-90 so it may be a tad lean. Is your throttle very crispy or sluggish? -Mark

| Ok, thanks for help - so this is what I've got. Powervalve is ok, I set it exactly like it was given in service manual (Factory, not Clymer )Setting carburetor is ALMOST ok (it's 90, main jet 350) but I wrote "almost" because today I've found that somebody did something weird to the floater - fuel level does not match specifications and due to this, the mixture is too rich. I'll correct this as soon as I can and get back to you guys!PS. And yeah, This "warsaw" is a Capital of Poland, in Europe And I'm the one and only owner of a Zilla in my Country...what a wonderful feeling ![]() |

| when you adjust the floats make sure there even. if ones of it will screw it up. as for the powervalve, that really couldn't be the problem. the linkage on mine came apart and wasn't hooked up anymore and still ran fine. i didn't even notice anything was wrong until i looked on the inspection window and saw the bolt missing along with a bunch of the other parts. the tranny gears had some nice stell parts to chew on!! ![]() |
