Default Service manual for banshee 1988 or 1987

Hi all,

anyone can help me with a service manual for the banshee 1988 or 1987,
especially for the "Two Mikuni VM26SS" carburation.

it just doesn't run like it should, and it's getting harder and harder to get my banshee running.

I didn't realize that the carbs were different on the early Banshees. My only experience with them is 96-03. Are your carbs clean? Is the jetting correct for your mods, altitude, temperature and all the good stuff? And when's the last time the top end has been rebuilt?

I cleaned my carbs several times,
i don't thing that will be the problem
I even went to the bike-store and it costed me almost 150$, i must admith that when i got it back the engine run smooth, but only for some days, then again he begin running on 1 leg(the only 1 cyclinder runs smooth).

I am not a specialist, but i have this quad for many years now and i never had problems with it.

Maybe what would help is some kind off general setup/tuning guide for carbs like mine.

"The top end been rebuild", do you mean the cylinders?

they have never been opened .

"Is the jetting correct
for your mods, altitude, temperature and all the good stuff?"

I wouldn't know.

this is my quad:

all input is welcomed

how long have you had your shee? If you've had it a while and never done your top end (yes the cylinders) then that could be your problem, do a compression check, and check out your reeds, make sure none of your reeds are chipped broken, or dirty.

Maybe you are right
maybe just 1 more question about rebuiding the top end,

Should i change everything(piston, segments(rings arround piston), and also the cyclinders to let them .....(donno how its called in english, to make the cylinders smooth again)

Or should i only change the "rings arround the piston" we call that segments.

Pressure should be ok if I put new segments, or want that be enough.

tx
Jorge

With a top end as old as yours, I assume you would need a bore, thats where they take the cylinders to a bigger size, I suggest you change everthing, pistins rings, bearings.
Just tear down your top end, and have someone measure it and see if its "egging" then figure out what size pistons you'll need to go to, and you can buy a whole kit for about 160 dollars or less. You can talk to Flattrack (a member on the site) or go to www.magicracing.com or rockymountainatv.com Thats the places I go when I gotta rebuild.
