Default My new project

Well I have here a 1967 Harley Ironhead XLCH rigid frame bike. It is a 1000cc kick start only bike. Found some info today about it that engine was used in a drag bike.. that is why it is so damn hard to kick over! Needs alot of work but will be old school bobber with serious speed... Here are some photos. With a new axle mount tail light, S&S Super E shorty carb, brass kicker, I may take the "push" pedal and fab it to be kicker pedal which would be cool. Bike was together when I got it but since has been tore down for the revamp....

If you look at my page you can see the pic's of my 73' sporty ironhead that I got for my birthday from the wife. It's a kick only bike and I'm only needing the carb kit to get her running. My uncle is going to send me a S&S E carb for the sporty that he has lying around. My sporty was parked in 1980 and hasn't run since. I have done alot of cleaning up and it's now ready to kick other than the carb kit. Can't wait to see the finished project.

It has a distributor right? I am bying th emallory billet electronic one. I have ordered my pipe wrap and my LaRosa solo seat. I am thinking of running the sprocket/rotor combo. But it is 600.00 for that.
I have a wide glide front end with 16" 40 spoke wheels on front and back. I am looking for an old firetruck or old 30's era headlight off of a car or truck. I need to get an oil tank for it but am thinking of converting a small fire extinguisher into an oil tank, that would look trick I think.
If your old ironhead has at I would check the check ball in the oil pump is not stuck if so you will be spitting a couple quarts of oil onto the floor. Here is a good rionhead forum for you to check out......

No distributor on my bike. It's got the points and condensor. I will check that out before I run about the oil pump. Did the bike come with the S&S or the Bendix and you bought or already had the S&S? I registered on that forum and awaiting the email. But when you see "73Ironheadrider" on there that is me.

Is your bike 1000cc's or 900cc's? Mine's 1000cc's. My uncle is going to send me one of his extra S&S "E"s next week. All I have to do is get the air cleaner off fleabay or else where. What is your username on the XLforum? You will see me over there alot.
