Don't get the 3.3. It has good power, but is a bitch to tune and won't hold a tune worth a flip. I had an O.S. 18tm in my maxx and it is simple to tune and will hold it for ever. The TM is not quite as powerful as th 3.3 but it will still pull the front wheels off the ground on comand. The 3.3 will also eat the tranny gears. I know a guy with a new 3.3 t-maxx that is on his 3rd tranny. But a forward only conversion will fix that. If you want to give up reverse and put it in. I have a 3.3 now. I wish I would have bought another TM. But it's your choice. Good luck

Yeah, the maxx is not a very durable truck. If your truck is all aluminum, You could sell it and buy a more fun and reliable truck like a savage x or revo. You can stuff a big block in a stock revo and have a lot more fun. A revo with a big block engine and rpm arms and your all set. But you will probobly only get half of what you have in the maxx if you sold it. My t-maxx has been on my shelf for 3 months over $20 of parts. But I know if I fix it, 5 minutes later it will just break again. The maxx trucks were king... Before the savage and revo came along. But you would like the revo performance better. I did. My friend has one, and I loved driving it. My t-maxx now bores me. Anyway, good luck with your engine choice
