i saw that deal in dirt wheels i think it was where they make the irs rear that will mount up on any quad, least thats what it says it can be made to do, it mounts to the swingarm and rear shock mounts so its solid and its supposed to only add like 10lbs to the regular weight.

I bought one about a a month ago and nothing will come close to the way it handles once you get the suspension dialed in. Its got fox podium full independent suspension. Its not anywhere near as heavy as a 4x4 and where the straight axle quads get hung up on rocks, roots, trees whaver else this thing goes right over its got something like 11 inches of ground clearence. All I have done to mine is full skid plates, AAEN silencer, AAEN air box mod, K&N filter, ITP beadlock wheels and Maxxis I-Razr tires. Mine will get the new TRX450 by half a bike length, it easily beats the raptor, the yfz450 get its hands down and so does the ds650. I was a little sketchy about it when i bought it about it not holding up but so far all has been good. Its also a really nasty quad on an mx track I personally think that its a really good quad for pretty much anything but maybe dunes.... by the way yes you can put reverse in motors easily. Look at the 400ex, pretty much the same motor thats in the XR400.
did you get the 525 ktm motor or the 500 polaris motor? The dealers around me do not have the 525 ktm motor avalible yet. bull shit I tell ya bull shit!

I haven't heard dick about them until I read this here, I have hard though that the Predator is now going to 700CC's, and I'm not too keen on IRS on a sport quad, too much shit to tear up, too much shit to maintain. If you get hung up on something you're doing something you shouldn't be doing or know better, or you just don't know how to ride your quad...

UPDATE:::

So i took it for a spin yesterday and let me tell you what....i have ridden a lot of the 4 poke race quads that are out there and this one was the cadilac of them all....it was super responsive and cornered so well i thought it was dangerous.....i went into a 360 degree turn full throttle and came out full throttle with out even leaning.....it tore a pretty good hole in the ground too.....i liked it....the way i see it IRS is going to be the wave of the future.....

as far as the logistics on rear wheel power houses and draggers i think that will be a long way coming.....that little drive shaft and setup just doesn't seem like it would be able to handle the massive hp like the solid axle can....but jumping definetly seems to work fine.

oh yeah i forgot to mention the one i rode and saw was actually the outlaw 500 with the predator motor in it....the 525 with the KTM won't be into dealers until probably march or april 2007......from what the dealership knows the 07 with the KTM will make the 06 with the polaris motor pretty much obsolete..

Yeah the one i have is the 500cc. Around here its not uncommon to get hung up on some stuff like big trees or rocks but the people that have straight axles bash the skid plates (or sprockets if they dont have them) on alot of the stuff around here, theres alot of really tight trails with no way around obstacles. The outlaw is probably the best 2wd sport quad that ive ever ridden in the mud, ive never gotten it stuck and ive had it about 8" above the foot rests in mud and water. If you can keep the rpms down and not spin the tires its really good in mud. I think im going to test ride one with the 510 in it next season and if i like it im going to trade mine in.

I think i need to rid eone before i give mt opinion. I always thought of DS650's as peices of shit until i rode one of trails. The suspension was awesome but thats all. Of course when you going 50 on trails and having rocks and fallen trees in the way the suspension makes the weight issue non-exsist. i love the power of two strokes and all for drags and hillclimbs but damn those DS's have fantastic suspension and i can imagine IRS would make a hell of a differance when it comes to trail riding.
