Unhappy cant find the damn leak

i recently bought a s-10 pick up for a 150 bucks and runs great for the miles it got,but one problem...the damn thing leaks and i cant find it im not sure if its the transmission oil or the motor oil alls i no its black......so when i changed the oil it was all blk and shit (motor oil) so i dump the new oil in and i look under the truck (while its running) and i see the clear motor oil dripping so im almost 75% sure its motor oil......so i sit under the truck and let the truck run and i dont no where the hells its coming from.....i cant tell ill have to power wash under the truck so i cn see im not sure if its the oil pan either help or suggestion would be appreciative

is there fresh oil on the engine? It could be a head gasket.

or try following the leak. Crawl under the old girl and look for oil. Might take you 5 mintues to trace it back to where it came from but it works.

My guess is a rear main. Tranny fluid is red, so it's not that. Hey, what'd you expect for $150?

i tryed that and i couldnt find it......its a "creeper leak" it leaks very very slow and i cant find it......i already tryed to crawl under it while the truck was running to...but when i get back from like a ride ill park it and it will leak for about 5 min or so and then it will stop and yes theres fresh oil in there

From what part of the engine is the oil coming from? Even better would be a pic of the leak. What year S10 is it?

its a 1991 2wd 5 speed manual and it leaks right where the transmission plugs into the engine and the oil pan is right next to it.....ill try to get a picture but im not promising anything lol

I owna 93 ext. cab 4.3L (tbi, but I got a vortec 4.3 int he back lol) 4x4 and I did have a few leaking problems too. The oil hoses to the remote resivior leaked and that was a bitch to replace. But now it doesn't leak any oil. Everythingi s pretty much sealed tight. What size motor is it? Any questions just ask me, if the 2-3 months I've owned mine i've learned alot. Another thing that helps is a haynes manual. Once again any questions pm me

most common s10 leaks....

4.3 liter:
oil cooler lines
rear mains(not near as bad as cooler lines)
2.2:
oil pan gaskets...theyll eat through new ones as fast as you put them on.

i'm a mechanic...what i do for a living, not a backyard do it yourselfer...these are THE most common leaks on s10's. any other q's...ask away
