| testing you on how much you know really doesn't help the zilla community.. i don't think they need to know which years came with painted a arms in a certian color. we have a lot of topics in the forums that could contain that info, i think that is what the mod was saying. yeah ya know a lot, but some of that is not needed as "off hand info"

| Damn! I step away for the weekend and look what happens...I was reading page 7 of 10 when apparently the thread was deleted. Oh well. I had a couple of mis-answered questions I just HAVE to clarify for my own ego. :Handlbars and pad: Different between 1987 and 88-90. Rear Axle: Yes, it IS hollow for light-weight, and it is actually filled with some type of rubber-dampening goo to reduce vibration. Plastic: We all should know this one, the nose piece in 1987 had an extra horizontal slat in it. Headlight Bezel: Yup, someone was correct, in 1987 the bezel was chrome-plated. In 1988 they changed it to black-painted. Front grab Bar: In 1987 they had it wrapped with black foam. Tires: In 1987 they were the Dunlops. In 1988 they changed them to the bridgestone Dirhooks DH07(front) and DH08(rear) Anyhow, I appreciated the other details, that was a fun post! GG

| You got a point there VMX. I just wanted to show what I know. I am very proud of the knowledge I have earned over the past 2 years, and I wanted to share it. Thanks mental. Hiperfind, now that I can use the parts fiche, let's take a look at some stuff: 1987 handlebar and pad: 56110-43B01-291 and 56172-43B00-4UZ. 1988 handlebar and pad: 56110-43B01-291 and 56172-43B00-4UZ. 1989 handlebar and pad: 56110-43B01-291 and 56172-43B00-4UZ. 1990 handlebar and pad: 56110-43B01-291 and 56172-43B00-4UZ. Looks like I'm right on this one. 1987 front fender and hood: 53111-43B01-25Y and 53118-43B00-19F. 1988 front fender and hood: 53111-43B01-25Y and 53118-43B00-19F. 1989 front fender and hood: 53111-43B01-25Y and 53118-43B00-19F. 1990 front fender and hood: 53111-43B01-25Y and 53118-43B00-19F. Looks like I'm right on this one too. 1987 headlight rim: 35111-36510. 1988 headlight rim: 35111-36510. 1989 headlight rim: 35111-19A50. 1990 headlight rim: 35111-19A50. Looks like we were both wrong. But you were closer. I didn't believe it myself, as I've never seen one of the later ones myself. About the tires: Again we were both wrong, and again you were closer. According to alpha-sports, the '87 and '88 front and rear wheels used both Bridgestones and Dunlops, and the '89 and '90 wheels used Bridgestones. Strange. |
