| What make and model Radio are you using, and what kinda mag mount? Wilson 1000, K1??? Find the station you want to chat on, turn your squelch so there is static, then back it off just a hair so the static goes away. As for the the antenna tuning: The basic idea behind tuning a CB antenna is to get the SWR to a suitably low reading. If the SWR is too high, not only is the performance of your CB seriously hindered, but you run a very high risk of damaging your radio. You need to make sure that there isn’t too much power being reflected back into the radio through the feedline from the antenna, which prevents the proper signal output. By law, a CB radio is only entitled to four watts of RF power (unlicensed), so small adjustments to the SWR can make a significant difference in radio performance. Suppose that your transmitter is driving all four watts of RF energy, but 3 of those watts are being reflected – this would mean that in reality you are only getting one measly watt of outgoing power from the antenna! Again, if SWR is too high, there is low output from your antenna. Valuable RF power is sent back through the feedline and into the radio. This means that your outgoing signals will be weak and distorted. Even worse, all that power being sent back to your radio is in the form of heat and can permanently damage the output transistor. Hope this helps.

| Now that you scared him!!! LOL! Back in the day when I was into C.B.'s I used to mess around......linears( the car stereo version of an amp, although illegal) It was fun! Especially when the cloud cover was heavy, they would call it SKIP...which meant that even though you were only putting out 4 watts, you could transmit 1,000-2,000 miles. Kinda confusing but, when you would talk or transmit, your signal would "skip" or relect off of the cloud cover over a great distance and have the oppertunity to talk to other "C.B.ers" a few states away with only 4 watts or kick it up a notch with a 250 watt linear(amp).. It was a lot of fun back in the daY!

| i might be wrong, but if i remember u go to the chanel and set the swr meter key up and zero the meter then let off and switch the meter over [reverse] and rekey it and check, want the meter as low as possible, if it needs adjusting then u adj at the wip, move it up or down like 1/8 or a 1/16 inch at a time.
